Dark Chocolate Almond Bark with Pistachio and Sea Salt

025I am going to make this post short and sweet.   Christmas is in one week- we are all probably too busy.   This is a joyous time of year but it is also a challenging time for many people.  Let’s remember to give each other a big smile, a more intentional, deeper hug, a surprise cup of tea or coffee, a ear to listen to.  It’s so easy to get caught up in our own stuff- I do it all the time.  There is a lot of sadness out in the world right now.  Let’s all give a little extra love and kindness.


One way I am going to spread some kindness is by sharing this delicious chocolate bark recipe.  It’s bound to make someone feel a little extra special.

It’s a simple and delicious gift or dessert to bring to your next Christmas party or to give to your co-worker. Or whomever.


So here you go.  My gift to you- dark chocolate bark your friends and family will love.  My kids, who usually don’t like dark chocolate were sneaking seconds!

Dark Chocolate Almond Bark with Pistachio and Sea Salt


  • 10 ounces good dark chocolate ( I used Scharffen Berger 70% cocoa)
  • zest of 1 orange
  • 1/8 cup salted and roasted pistachios
  • pinch or two of sea salt flakes


Using a knife. chop chocolate into small pieces.

In a double boiler with one inch of boiling water on the bottom, melt chocolate in a glass bowl on top. Stir as the chocolate melts. Transfer to a bowl and add orange zest and half of the pistachios and mix together.

On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spread the chocolate into an even thin layer using a spatula.

Sprinkle the remaining pistachios on top and add a pinch or two of sea salt flakes.

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight). Break into pieces.
